Version 0.3.2 · Windows 10/11 · 64-bit · 35.2 MB

This release asks everyone to choose their name before chatting and shows it on messages and conversations. Verified app updates copy between enrolled household PCs. Each PC chooses Install update… from the tray. Phone connections, images and file sharing are still being built.

Make the PCs feel at home.

  1. Install 0.3.2 on every participating PC. Extract the setup ZIP first, keep Setup and release.json together, and run Setup over the existing installation. Your household and stored records are retained; do not create a new household to update.
  2. Open the companion on each PC. Already paired PCs open Chat; new PCs open the setup dashboard. Closing that browser tab leaves the companion running in the tray. Use Open dashboard in the tray when you need household setup.
  3. Allow household connections. Use the tray menu on each PC while connected to your private home network. Windows asks before adding the local firewall rules.
  4. Pair any new PCs. If you are starting for the first time, create a household on one PC. Make an invitation and enter their email address to open a Gmail draft, or copy the short join link. Each new PC needs its own invitation.
  5. Choose Open chat and set your name. Use the name your family knows you by. Change it later with Your name. In New chat, choose who to talk to; follow the status beside any PC that is not ready yet.

Optional: choose Start on sign-in from the tray. PCs need to be awake, signed in and running the companion to serve their copy. Already paired PCs can keep syncing when the first PC is off. Older versions need this download once before they can copy future verified app updates over the household network.

Release notes and checksums

Version 0.3.2 · 3 October 2026. Automatic name setup, updated names on existing messages, clearer participant availability and dewittoffline.com invitation links are included alongside private PC chat and verified household app-update copying. Update every participating PC and open Chat on each one. Existing household data is retained. Requires .NET Framework 4.8. The release manifest is publisher-signed; the Windows executable is not Authenticode-signed, so Windows may show an unknown-publisher warning.

Keep invitations private. Data is stored in your Windows profile and retained when you uninstall. Recovery export and device removal are not available in this preview.

The packaged Windows helper, private-conversation isolation, encrypted browser outbox and update verification passed local checks. Phone connectivity remains a separate gate.
